Airsoft is a team based skirmish sport played using electric, gas and spring operated BB guns. It is quite similar to paintball, only without the pain(t). The guns used fire 6mm biodegradable BB's at a velocity which gives them a range of 30-40 yards but cannot cause any injuries when sensible precautions, such as face masks, are taken. The BB's weigh only 0.2g and are much less likely to hurt than paintball hits.

At Ambush Wargames teams of almost any size can skirmish across varied woodland to complete missions such:

Capture the flag: Each team most locate and capture a single objective and get it into the opposing teams base. 15-30 minutes duration. Infiltrate the enemy stronghold: Get into a fortified base and complete one or more tasks. The defenders will not know the exact objectives of the attackers. Duration 30-45 minutes. Patrol: A larger force must patrol a specified route and survive the ambushes of the pre-positioned enemy. Duration 30-45 minutes. Pilot rescue: Each team must locate and rescue/capture a downed pilot and return him to their base/extraction point. 40-60 minutes duration.

Honesty is the key element of airsoft. Since there is no paint, players must call themselves out of the game when they are hit. The marshals will call you out if they see the hit, but the onus is on the player getting hit to be honest and immediately come out of the game. Players who have been hit will either return to the safe area or be reintroduced into the game depending on the scenario being played. Player found to be blatantly cheating will be warned and if they persist will be asked to leave the site.
